Humpty Privacy Policy

Last updated: 14 September 2026

Humpty is a Burger Labs macOS utility that analyses and reconstructs fragmented multi-ZIP deliveries on your Mac. It is not affiliated with Google or Google Drive.

What Humpty is

Humpty reconstructs a folder that was divided across multiple ZIP archives. Analysis, recovery and CRC/size verification run on your Mac.

Archives you select

Humpty reads ZIP files you add and writes the reconstructed result only to the destination folder you choose. Source ZIP archives remain untouched during normal analysis and recovery. After recovery you may optionally choose “Move source ZIP files to Trash…”. That never happens automatically.

The app is sandboxed and uses access you grant through the macOS file picker. It does not include a network client entitlement for recovery work.

What stays on your Mac

Archive contents, recovered files, CRC and size checks, Recovery Reports and Recovery History stay on your Mac. History stores job metadata such as delivery name, destination path, counts and status — not the contents of recovered files.

Humpty does not upload file names, paths, contents, hashes or recovery data to Burger Labs as part of analysis or recovery.

What may leave the device

Core recovery is local. Help Centre content is built into the app and does not require a network entitlement. If you open Burger Labs Support, Privacy or other website links, your browser makes that request only when you choose to visit them.

If you export or copy a Recovery Report, the copy exists wherever you put it.

Accounts, purchases and analytics

No Burger Labs account is required. Humpty does not include analytics or tracking SDKs in the current app. Humpty is distributed through the Mac App Store. Apple handles that store purchase. Burger Labs does not receive payment card details.

Support and privacy questions

If you contact Burger Labs for Humpty support, we receive the email address, message and any diagnostic information you choose to send. Do not send private archives or recovered files unless we specifically request a safe sample and you are authorised to share it.

Children’s privacy

Humpty is not directed at children. Burger Labs does not knowingly collect personal information from children through Humpty.

Your rights

Burger Labs is based in South Africa. If we hold personal information about you — typically because you emailed us — you may ask us to confirm what we hold, correct it, or delete it where that is reasonably possible. We will respond in a reasonable time.

This page explains our practices in plain language. It is not legal advice and it does not claim that Burger Labs is certified under every privacy law that may apply to you. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may also contact the Information Regulator in South Africa.

Security and retention

Information stored in the app remains on your device until you delete it, clear app data, or uninstall the app, except where you exported a copy or wrote data to another service such as Apple Health. Email we receive is kept as long as needed to answer and for ordinary business records.

We take reasonable steps to protect correspondence, but no method of storage or transmission is completely secure. Protect your device, keep its software current, and share exports carefully.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the product’s behaviour or legal requirements change. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will change when that happens. Continued use of the product after an update means you should read the revised policy.
