Beside Privacy Policy

Beside is a Burger Labs Bible app for iPhone and Android. It helps you read Scripture offline with short explanations, thematic Walks, and simple prayer / journey tools. It is an independent Burger Labs product.
What Beside is
Beside lets you open Bible passages (including offline BSB, WEB, KJV, and ASV), read curated explanations labelled as explanations (not Scripture), follow thematic Walks, and use on-device prayer and journey features. Struggle and Today paths may point you to crisis helplines when needed; Beside is not therapy, diagnosis, or medical advice.
Optional Support Beside purchases are meant to support anti-trafficking work through A21 (a21.org) after store fees and ordinary costs. Apple or Google process those payments. Support purchases through the app are not tax-deductible donations via Burger Labs.
What stays on your device
Bible text, explanations, Walk content, reading preferences, prayers, journey data, and other in-app activity the app stores locally stay on your device. Beside does not require a Burger Labs account.
What may leave the device
If you open an external link (for example a crisis helpline, A21, or a Burger Labs website page), your browser or the system opens that destination and that site’s own privacy practices apply.
If you buy an optional Support Beside tip through the App Store or Google Play, Apple or Google process the purchase. Burger Labs does not receive your payment card details.
Accounts, purchases and analytics
No Burger Labs account is required. Tips are optional in-app purchases (Apple StoreKit / Google Play Billing). The current apps do not include advertising trackers or third-party analytics SDKs.

Beside is distributed on the Apple App Store (and TestFlight where used) and on Google Play.
Children’s privacy
Beside is not directed at children. Burger Labs does not knowingly collect personal information from children through Beside.
Your rights
Burger Labs is based in South Africa. If we hold personal information about you — typically because you emailed us — you may ask us to confirm what we hold, correct it, or delete it where that is reasonably possible. We will respond in a reasonable time.
This page explains our practices in plain language. It is not legal advice and it does not claim that Burger Labs is certified under every privacy law that may apply to you. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may also contact the Information Regulator in South Africa.
Security and retention
Information stored in the app remains on your device until you delete it, clear app data, or uninstall the app, except where you exported a copy yourself. Email we receive is kept as long as needed to answer and for ordinary business records.
We take reasonable steps to protect correspondence, but no method of storage or transmission is completely secure. Protect your device and keep its software current.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the product’s behaviour or legal requirements change. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will change when that happens. Continued use of the product after an update means you should read the revised policy.
