Practical help for OffloadPilot on Mac. OffloadPilot is optimised for DJI camera and drone media workflows. Start with Getting started. If you still need help, email Burger Labs with the details at the end of this page.
OffloadPilot inventories the source, copies to one or two destinations, independently verifies each copy, and produces a handoff report. It does not format, delete or rewrite source media.
OffloadPilot is an independent Burger Labs product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by DJI.
Supported macOS
macOS 14 or later. Apple silicon and Intel Macs that can run that system are supported.
Getting started
- Install OffloadPilot on a Mac running macOS 14 or later.
- Connect a DJI SD card or SSD, or open Help and choose Try Sample Ingest if you have no hardware.
- Confirm the detected DJI source, or choose a volume with Choose card or SSD…
- Review the inventory. Prefer Named job with a production name.
- Choose a Primary destination. Optionally add a Backup on a different physical drive.
- Grant folder access when macOS asks. Wait for copy, then independent verification, then the catalog and wrap screen.
Format the source in the camera only after the wrap screen shows verified copies you trust. OffloadPilot never formats or deletes the source.
Selecting a source
If a mounted volume looks like DJI camera media, the home screen can highlight it as a detected DJI source. Offload still does not start until you continue. If several cards look similar, pick one from the list.
Choose another source… or Choose card or SSD… opens the system folder picker. That path always works, including when auto-detection cannot inspect a volume or when a DJI layout is unusual.
Choose phone or Fly folder… is for a DJI Fly, Mimo, or phone folder that already contains DJI photos or video on disk.
Sample media
Don’t have a DJI card available? Run a demonstration of a typical DJI-style media offload using built-in sample media. No DJI hardware is required. Try Sample Ingest is available in Help. It is labelled SAMPLE DEMO. It is not a real camera offload, and you should not treat it as permission to format a real card.
Selecting destinations
Primary is required. Backup is optional and should be a different physical drive from both the source and the Primary. OffloadPilot blocks destinations that sit on the same storage as the source, or a backup that sits on the same storage as the Primary, when it can tell them apart.
Copy and verify
Files are copied to a job folder, then each destination is read back and compared with SHA-256. A successful write is not enough on its own. Matching files already in that job folder are skipped after they independently match. If a different file already uses that name, the job stops and nothing is overwritten.
Interrupted offload / resume
Cancel or quit during copy leaves the job incomplete. Continue uses the same existing job folder rather than creating a new Card_02 and recopying everything. Partial files from an interrupted write are not promoted as complete copies.
If you press Cmd-Q during scan, copy or catalog, OffloadPilot asks whether to keep working or quit anyway.
Verify Existing Copy
Verify an existing copy… re-checks a previous OffloadPilot folder that contains REPORT, using the checksums recorded at offload. Choose the folder that contains the REPORT file.
Common troubleshooting
DJI card not auto-detected
Confirm the volume is mounted in Finder and wait until macOS has finished mounting. Some unusual DJI layouts may not be highlighted automatically. Use Choose card or SSD… and select the volume yourself. Offload still does not start until you confirm.
Permissions
The app is sandboxed. If a scan or copy cannot see a card or folder, choose the location again and allow access in the system picker. For sticky problems, remove OffloadPilot from Privacy & Security folder access where shown, then grant access from the app.
Removable drive or card issues
Confirm the volume is mounted in Finder. Wait until macOS has finished mounting. If auto-detect does not highlight the card, use Choose card or SSD… and select the volume yourself.
Dual destination workflows
Primary and Backup should be on different physical drives. Each destination is verified independently. Success on one destination does not count as success on the other. Check the wrap screen and REPORT for per-destination verification.
Storage / free space
If there is not enough free space, OffloadPilot blocks the copy at preflight and tells you. Free space on the destination, or choose another drive, then try again.
Verification failures
If independent verification fails, do not format the source. Keep the card mounted if you still can, check that the destination stayed connected, and look at the wrap screen and REPORT for which files failed. You can verify an existing copy later from the home screen.
Does OffloadPilot format or delete the source?
No. Source media is read-only from the app’s point of view. OffloadPilot never formats, deletes or rewrites the card, SSD or PROSSD.
Contact Burger Labs
Include your macOS version, OffloadPilot version from the About window, whether you used sample media or a real card, and the exact wording of any error. Do not attach private flight media unless we specifically ask for a safe sample.
