Help for Numlume, the number-chain puzzle game for iPhone. Most questions are answered below. If you still need help, email Burger Labs using the details at the end of this page.
This page covers Numlume version 1.0 for iPhone (iOS 17.0 or later).
How do I play?
Drag your finger across the 6 × 6 board to link numbered tiles into a chain, then lift to play it. Longer chains score more. Reach each Stage’s target score before you run out of moves to move on to the next Stage.
A short How to Play guide appears the first time you open the game.
Which tiles can I connect?
Each next tile must touch the previous one, including diagonally, and must be either the same number or exactly one higher. For example, 2 → 2 → 3 → 4 is a valid chain, but 4 → 3 or 2 → 4 is not. A tile can only be used once in a chain.
What is a Blast Tile?
Make a chain of 6 or more tiles and a glowing white Blast Tile appears where your chain ended. It keeps that tile’s number. Include the Blast Tile in a later chain and it explodes, clearing the tiles around it for bonus points.
If the explosion reaches another Blast Tile, that one goes off too, setting off a cascade. Cascades earn extra bonus points.
What are Standard, Charged and Supercharged Blasts?
The longer the chain that creates a Blast Tile, the more powerful it is:
- Standard (chains of 6 to 8 tiles): clears the 3 × 3 area around the Blast Tile.
- Charged (chains of 9 to 12 tiles): also reaches two tiles straight up, down, left and right.
- Supercharged (chains of 13 or more): reaches further still, adding the four tiles two steps away diagonally.
A Blast Tile keeps its power until it goes off. In a cascade, each Blast Tile explodes with its own power.
What is a Bridge Tile?
Bridge Tiles are discovered at Stage 15 and then appear occasionally on the board. You can step onto a Bridge Tile from any number, which lets you rescue a chain that would otherwise be stuck. After the Bridge, the chain continues from the Bridge Tile’s own number. Two Bridge Tiles cannot be linked directly to each other.
What are Stages?
A run is a series of Stages. Each Stage gives you a target score and a limited number of moves. Clear the target to advance; targets grow as you go. If you run out of moves before reaching the target, the run ends and you can start again.
What are Chapters?
Every 10 Stages make up a Chapter. Along the way you discover milestones, such as new numbers and the Bridge Tile, and some Chapters unlock cosmetic chain trails. Open Journey to see your milestones, records and progress.
What is Mastery?
After you clear Stage 20, Mastery challenges begin to appear. They are optional extra objectives on a Stage. Clearing the Stage is still all you need to keep moving, but completing the challenge earns a Mastery Star. Your Mastery Stars are shown in Journey.
How do I turn sound or haptics off?
Tap the Settings button (the sliders icon at the top right of the game) and switch Sound or Haptics off. Your choice is remembered. Game sounds also respect your iPhone’s silent switch and volume.
How do I enable Reduce Motion?
Numlume follows your iPhone’s accessibility setting. Open the iPhone Settings app, then go to Accessibility › Motion and turn on Reduce Motion. The game then replaces larger movement effects with gentler ones. There is no separate switch inside the game.
Does Numlume need an internet connection?
No. Numlume plays fully offline. You only need a connection to download it from the App Store, or if you open the Privacy Policy or Support links from the game’s Settings, which open this website.
Does Numlume collect my data?
No. There is no account, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. Your progress and settings are saved only on your iPhone and are never sent to Burger Labs.
How do I restart or reset?
To start a new run, tap Restart at the bottom of the game screen, or open Settings and choose Restart Game, then confirm. Restarting resets your current score. Your discoveries, records and Mastery Stars are kept.
Numlume does not include an option to erase all progress. If you want to start completely fresh, delete the app from your iPhone and reinstall it. Deleting the app removes all of its saved progress from the device, and this cannot be undone.
